Our story

During our trip to the historic town of Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic, we were thrilled to visit the magnificent Castle Tower or "Zámecká věž" in Czech. This iconic tower is also known as the "Great Round Tower" or "Velká okrouhlá věž" because of its unique circular shape. The Castle Tower is a striking feature of the stunning Cesky Krumlov Castle, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As we made our way up to the top of the Castle Tower, we were amazed by the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. From such a great height, we were able to appreciate the town's charm and beauty, as well as the winding Vltava River that meanders through the picturesque town.

The Castle Tower itself is a fascinating structure with a rich history. It was constructed in the 13th century as part of the town's medieval fortifications, which served to protect the town from invaders. The tower has since undergone several renovations and additions over the centuries, including the addition of a Baroque dome in the 17th century.

In addition to its defensive role, the Castle Tower also served as a symbol of the town's wealth and power. It was once used to display the coats of arms of the town's noble families, which were painted on its exterior walls.

Today, the Castle Tower is open to visitors who are keen to explore its fascinating history and enjoy the breathtaking views from its top. The tower houses an exhibition showcasing its history, as well as a unique collection of Renaissance graffiti, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people who lived in the tower centuries ago.

Visiting the Castle Tower was a highlight of our trip to Český Krumlov, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting this charming and historic town.
